A Good Girl's Guide to Murder by Holly Jackson

A Good Girl's Guide to Murder by Holly Jackson is such a great story! I loved this one and can't really say enough good things about it.  I love a good mystery and this one fits the bill.  This story had me gasping out loud (and cussing) on multiple occasions.  If you are looking for a fun, fast-paced, and intense novel, this one is perfect!

A Good Girl's Guide to Murder is the story of Pippa, a high school senior who is starting her senior project.  She has decided she is going to take on the case of Andie Bell, a high school senior who was murdered five years ago.  Andie's boyfriend Sal is the presumed killer since he didn't have an alibi and ended up killing himself just days after her disappearance.  But Pippa is convinced Sal is innocent and has decided her senior project is going to prove it.  But as she dives deeper in to the case, she realizes that her investigation may be more dangerous than she ever would have guessed.  As she pushes on, she finds that the answers to the case may be more devastating than she ever could have imagined.

From Amazon:

THE INSTANT NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER!

For readers of Kara Thomas and Karen McManus, an addictive, twisty crime thriller with shades of Serial and Making a Murderer about a closed local murder case that doesn't add up, and a girl who's determined to find the real killer--but not everyone wants her meddling in the past.

Everyone in Fairview knows the story.

Pretty and popular high school senior Andie Bell was murdered by her boyfriend, Sal Singh, who then killed himself. It was all anyone could talk about. And five years later, Pip sees how the tragedy still haunts her town.

But she can't shake the feeling that there was more to what happened that day. She knew Sal when she was a child, and he was always so kind to her. How could he possibly have been a killer?

Now a senior herself, Pip decides to reexamine the closed case for her final project, at first just to cast doubt on the original investigation. But soon she discovers a trail of dark secrets that might actually prove Sal innocent . . . and the line between past and present begins to blur. Someone in Fairview doesn't want Pip digging around for answers, and now her own life might be in danger.

This is the story of an investigation turned obsession, full of twists and turns and with an ending you'll never expect.

One of Us Is Next by Karen M. McManus

One of Us Is Next by Karen M. McManus is the long awaited sequel to McManus' debut novel.  And the sequel does not disappoint.  Like the first novel, this one is a fast paced mystery that will keep you guessing at every turn of the page.  McManus is a master storyteller who knows how to build suspense before all the pieces are put together in the end.  If you are looking for an extremely fun story, this one fits the bill.

One of Us Is Next takes us back to Bayview, where just one year earlier, tragedy struck.  And since Simon died, a number of copycat apps have popped up, but none of them have stuck.  Until now.  When a "truth or dare" game pops up on the phones of the Bayview High students, we are taken right back in to Simon's world.  And just like the previous year, this game has deadly consequences.  The one big question?  Can it be stopped before it becomes even worse?

From Amazon:

The highly anticipated, #1 New York Times bestselling sequel to One of Us Is Lying! There's a new mystery to solve at Bayview High, and there's a whole new set of rules.

Come on, Bayview, you know you've missed this.

A ton of copycat gossip apps have popped up since Simon died, but in the year since the Bayview four were cleared of his shocking death, no one's been able to fill the gossip void quite like he could. The problem is no one has the facts.

Until now.

This time it's not an app, though—it's a game.

Truth or Dare.

Phoebe's the first target. If you choose not to play, it's a truth. And hers is dark.

Then comes Maeve and she should know better—always choose the dare.

But by the time Knox is about to be tagged, things have gotten dangerous. The dares have become deadly, and if Maeve learned anything from Bronwyn last year, it's that they can't count on the police for help. Or protection.

Simon's gone, but someone's determined to keep his legacy at Bayview High alive. And this time, there's a whole new set of rules.
